1. Who we are

Monarch Legal ("Monarch", "we", "us") is a law practice based in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. This policy explains how we handle personal data when you visit www.monarch.ind.in or contact us through the website.

2. Information we collect

  • Intake form data: name, email, phone, role, company, website, entity type, business stage, industry, team size, city, services of interest, urgency, matter description, preferred call window and format, and any free-text notes you provide.
  • Communications: emails and call notes shared with us in connection with a prospective or existing engagement.
  • Technical data: minimal server logs (IP address, user agent, timestamps) required to operate and secure the website.

3. Purpose & legal basis

Personal data is processed under Section 4 of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act") on the basis of your explicit consent (provided when you submit the intake form) and, where applicable, for legitimate uses such as responding to your request for legal advice and complying with legal obligations.

We use the data only to:

  • Respond to your intake and schedule an introductory call;
  • Assess conflicts of interest and scope a potential engagement;
  • Provide legal services if an engagement letter is signed;
  • Comply with our regulatory, tax and record-keeping obligations.

4. Storage & security

Intake form submissions are securely transmitted to a private Google Sheet accessible only to authorised members of Monarch Legal. We apply reasonable technical and organisational safeguards (access controls, encryption in transit, audit logs) to protect personal data against unauthorised access, alteration or disclosure.

5. Retention

Intake data for matters that do not become an engagement is retained for up to 24 months and then deleted or anonymised. Engagement records are retained for the duration of the engagement and for a further 7 years to comply with professional and statutory obligations.

6. Sharing

We do not sell personal data. We share it only with: (a) members of the Monarch team working on your matter; (b) co-counsel or specialist counsel engaged with your consent; (c) service providers (e.g. Google Workspace) under appropriate confidentiality obligations; and (d) authorities, courts or tribunals where required by law.

7. Your rights under the DPDP Act

You have the right to:

  • Access a summary of the personal data we hold about you;
  • Request correction, completion, updating or erasure;
  • Withdraw your consent at any time (this will not affect prior lawful processing);
  • Nominate another person to exercise your rights in case of incapacity or death;
  • File a grievance with the Data Protection Board of India.

To exercise these rights, email privacy@monarch.ind.in. We will respond within the timelines prescribed under the DPDP Act.

8. Cookies

We use only essential cookies and local browser storage required for the site to function (e.g. remembering that you have acknowledged the disclaimer). We do not run third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies on this site.
